The UK and Spanish based travel insurance startup scoped award thanks to its travel community mobile app platform and strong social media following.

Coverontrip, a travel insurance startup operating within the UK and Spanish markets, has won the 2018 Insurtech Unconference award for most influential insurtech in Spain. Having seen off stiff competition from a large number of insurtechs, Coverontrip won the award thanks to its innovative traveller community mobile app and impressive social media following.
While Coverontrip is, at its core, a travel insurance broker, what makes it standout is the approach the company has taken towards building a loyal traveller community. This has been achieved by developing and launching a standalone mobile app called Travelbe, where travellers can share their experiences, recommendations and travel hacks. This acts as a way to both engage and retain Coverontrip’s target audience of millennials; something that’s become increasingly more difficult in today’s aggregator dominated landscape.
Panel members of the Insurtech Unconference were impressed by this inventive approach to customer engagement and also noted Coverontrip’s strong social media following. The company now boasts the second largest social media following in Spain, after just 18 months of operation, while also having a sizeable following in the UK since launching in May this year.
