05 Oct Coverontrip Launches Winter Sports Travel Insurance
New policies are packed full of benefits, including cover for ski equipment, ski passes and equipment delay
As part of our mission to provide travel insurance for all types of trips, we’re delighted to announce the launch of Coverontrip’s winter sports travel insurance policies. Travellers hitting the slopes can now get covered for all types of skiing, snowboarding and other ice or snow bond activities.
Our new winter sports policies join the Coverontrip stable of other travel insurance products, which also includes holidays, backpacker and bicycle, meaning we can cover even more travellers on even more adventures.
So allow us to formally introduce our new winter sports policies:
What is the base cover on our winter sports travel insurance policies?
Let’s start with the basics; our winter sports policies have three tiers of cover: Blue, Red and Black. All three tiers of cover have exactly the same base cover. Here are some of the main features:
- £5m of medical expenses cover
- £2,000 of cancellation and curtailment cover
- £1,000 of baggage and money cover
- £2m of personal liability cover
- £10,000 of personal accident cover
What is the winter sports specific cover on these policies?
Being a winter sports product, we’ve worked hard to design these policies so they provide a broad range of cover against loads of accidents or mishaps you may have while you’re out enjoying yourself in the snow. Here’s a rundown of the cover that all three tiers provide:
- £750 theft, loss or damage to ski equipment cover
- £350 ski equipment hire cover
- £250 ski pass cover
- £200 delayed ski equipment cover
- £250 piste closure cover
- £250 avalanche cover
What winter sports activities do these policies cover?
Blue, Red and Black…give yourself a pat on the back if you’ve noticed what we’ve done with the policy names. These are, of course, named after the European piste colour scheme. But rather than just being a clever piece of marketing (which to be honest, we’re really chuffed with!), each policy covers different winter sports activities, with the higher the level, the more activities covered. Here’s a complete list of every winter sports activity that’s covered across all three tiers:

Now we’ve given you the rundown on our new winter sports policies, let’s have a quick recap on how it all works. The cover levels across all three tiers, Blue, Red and Black, are exactly the same. The only difference between the different tiers of cover are the winter sports activities that are covered, so check the above table when choosing your level of cover, to make sure your planned activities are covered.
