40% of millennials use social media to manage their health đŸ“±

“Almost 40% of millennials use social media networks for health-related issues” Rafael SenĂ©n, CEO at Coverontrip Digital Insurance.

“In 2019, 10% of the world’s population will live with a 3D printed organ or prosthesis. 35% of surgeries that require organ transplants or prosthetic implants will have a crucial new ally. However, the future challenges of the health insurance industry will not be overcome solely with technological innovation”.

These were the eye-opening statistics that Rafael SenĂ©n, CEO of COVERONTRIP DIGITAL INSURANCE, a Spanish insuretech company, began his presentation: ‘WHAT CHALLENGES WILL HEALTH INSURANCE FACE?’. The presentation was a study of the global challenges facing the health insurance industry, presented during the second edition of the Healthcare Insurance Innovation Summit held in Vienna.

SenĂ©n pointed out that “some of the factors with the most impact facing the health insurance industry have socio-demographic components: aging of the population, greater number and persistence of chronic diseases, education and involvement of the consumer and patient in the management of their health … But financial and sustainability challenges are also important, in which the pharmaceutical industry impacts, including the greater progressive weight of generic drugs, new models of supplier management, the role of health professionals, government policies and, of course, medical technology advances.

As an example of the challenges and opportunities facing the industry, Senén gave the example of the aware consumer who uses a wearable with their mobile phone, which via an APP measures different parameters of their health such as sleep cycle, nutrition, heart rate, levels of stress, etc.

Rafael Senén also participated in the round table discussion that dealt with the digital transformation in health and health insurance, together with other international experts.
